SALE . . Schlueter's exotic hibiscus seeds These hibiscus hybrids do not come "true" from seeds, but different varieties do tend to carry forward certain traits to their offspring through their seeds. Professional hybridizers like myself study such trends in order to produce desired hybrids with particular colors, forms, sizes, and growth habits. However, the genetic complexity of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is such that many surprises await even the most careful hybridizer. No two seeds are identical, and one seed pod often yields a mix of doubles and singles, many different colors, varying foliage and plant habits, etc. And now, for the first time, we are following recent developments among hybridizers and we are making available for sale some of the seeds from our crosses in 2007-08. This is necessitated in part by Hurricane Ike's having destroyed about half the greenhouse space normally allocated to growing these new seedlings. Many hibiscus fanciers live in climate zones where producing hybrid seeds is difficult or impossible, and such people can now enjoy the thrill of discovery by participating in the most exciting part of hybridizing. If you purchase our seeds, know that Barry must be recognized as hybridizer of record for registration purposes, but otherwise, you as buyer control rights to name and clone and market the unique varieties you grow from these seeds.
